【第27回オーストラリア派遣】滞在レポート(3)
Hello! This article is brought to you by Fuka. I’ll report about March 9th and 10th.
March 9th
1. Two workshops about Australia ~オーストラリアを知る体験型授業~
We joined an art class about “First Nation Art”. We made scratch art. In the class, we learned about traditional and modern art in Australia. We drew parts of the paintings of five Australian artists around the letter “Galang Nguruindhau”. It means Hello in Turrbal. It was a great time to learn about Australia.

The next class was a hospitality workshop. We made Pavlova, an Aussie dessert. Each of the three groups decorated it with fruit, chocolate, and cream. And we ate them with buddies after the class. It was so sweet.

2. Our 1st Japanese culture lesson ~日本文化を教える~
We held a class about Japanese culture for year 7 students. We introduced Kanji and Ennichi. We were glad to see Holland Park students having fun. However, it didn’t go as planned, so we decided to make some changes so that they can enjoy more!
March 10th
1. Our 2nd & 3rd Japanese culture lessons ~日本文化を教える(改)~
We were much more comfortable today than yesterday and were able to do Japanese culture lessons. The students enjoyed Kanji quizzes and games of Ennichi!

Comments from each section
A. Kanji: The first lesson was really terrible because it was the first time. However, we changed some slides to make the presentation better, and we had good reactions!
B. Yukata and Happi dressing: I really enjoyed the J-culture lesson! I was in charge of helping the students wear yukata. While helping them, I could talk with them. I was worried about whether Australian students are interested in our lesson. However, they seemed to become more interested in Japanese culture!!
C. Goldfish Scooping: I was nervous before doing, but I’m glad to know the toy goldfish is popular among the students! Some of the students play the game better than me.
D. Pull String Lottery: First, I saw my script all the time, but second time and third time I can explain senbonbiki without my script. Talking with Australian students is very fun for me!
E. Ring Toss: Many people were really into the game, and we were happy to see them enjoying it. After the game, students kept playing it for fun. It was nice to see everyone having such a good time.
F. Shooting Gallery: We had a section for shooting games as well. We used rubber guns.

2. Volleyball Workshop ~バレーボールをしっかり教わる~
As the last activity of the day, we played volleyball with a teacher and two students of Holland Park. Students taught us volleyball gently. Most of us never played volleyball seriously, but finally we were able to play games. It was so hot in the volleyball shed, but we had a lot of fun! In Holland Park, volleyball is very popular and students always play it on the break, so they play it really well.

We all enjoy our time in Australia and Holland Park! Look forward to the next article!
